Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform
Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) is Australia’s only not-for-profit, industry-for-industry, Government approved Co-regulatory Arrangement (CA) operating under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS). The Scheme requires companies that manufacture or import computers, computer accessories or TVs (over a certain level) to take responsibility for the safe and environmentally friendly recycling of end-of-life products.
The NTCRS is part of the Product Stewardship Act 2011, which legislates that government, industry and the community have a shared responsibility to reduce waste, increase recycling and manage the environmental, health and safety impacts of the products that we use.
In response to the introduction of the Act and the establishment of the NTCRS, ANZRP was formed by a group of leading IT and TV manufacturers and TechCollect, a national e-waste recycling service, was created. TechCollect provides ANZRP members with a lean and sustainable arrangement to meet their liability under the Product Stewardship legislation, and Australian households and businesses with a free and easy way to responsibly dispose of and recycle their unwanted computers, computer accessories and TVs.
ANZRP’s vision is to create a community which collects, processes and safely recycles electronic waste for responsible environmental outcomes.
A Partnership Approach
ANZRP is dedicated to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the NTCRS, and works closely with the Scheme Regulator to recommend and advocate improvements to ensure the best possible outcomes for all stakeholders.
We are committed to responsible recycling and protecting our members’ brands, and only partner with recyclers that adhere to the strictest Australian environmental and health & safety standards, ensuring that at least 90% of raw materials are recovered for reuse in new products.
ANZRP also partners with local councils and waste management organisations to make our TechCollect service available throughout Australia and works closely with other sustainability organisations such as Planet Ark and other Product Stewardship programs such as Mobile Muster and Cartridges 4 Planet Ark to raise public and business awareness of the importance of recycling. ANZRP is a sponsor of Planet Ark’s recyclingnearyou.com.au website.
